Encounter Bikeway

30km sealed cycling and walking path

A mostly flat 30km sealed path running along the Encounter Coast between Victor Harbor and Goolwa - perfect for families, casual walkers and cyclists.

Fleurieu's flagship coastal path

The Encounter Bikeway is a sealed 30km shared walking and cycling path that runs along the Encounter Coast between Victor Harbor and Goolwa. It is mostly flat, mostly off-road, and passes through Port Elliot and Middleton on the way. It is one of the best family and casual-cyclist experiences on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Practicalities

  • Mostly sealed, mostly flat - suitable for casual riders, e-bikes, strollers and wheelchairs
  • Bike hire available in Victor Harbor and Goolwa
  • The SteamRanger Cockle Train runs parallel for most of the way, so you can walk/ride one way and catch the train back (seasonal)
  • Allow 3-4 hours one-way by bike, or plan for a full day with stops
